Methodology

Every column is a real, sourced figure, not a derived or invented composite score: singles population (ages 22-50) and gender balance from the U.S. Census ACS, 1-bedroom rent from Zumper/RentCafe (modeled where noted), coupling and cohabitation rates from ACS household composition tables (DP02), and political lean from state voter-registration data or, where a state doesn’t register by party, the most recent presidential-election result as a proxy. A dash means that metro doesn’t have that figure sourced yet, not zero. Full citation-level detail lives on Sources & methodology.
