The LGBTQ+ landscape
53% of LGB adults have used a dating app, far more than straight adults.
An estimated 6.5% of Massachusetts adults identify as LGBT, among the highest shares in the country, concentrated in the South End and Jamaica Plain.

Getting around
Every subway transfer adds about 8 minutes of friction to a cross-neighborhood date.
Cambridge, the Seaport, and South Boston form a zero-transfer cluster on the Red Line. Somerville is not part of it: since the Green Line Extension opened in 2022, its nearest T stop (Gilman Square) is on the Green Line, one transfer from the Red Line cluster via Park Street.
Back Bay sits on the Green Line trunk at Copley, one transfer from the Red Line cluster via Park Street. The South End, walking distance to both Back Bay Station (Orange) and the Silver Line on Washington Street, actually reaches the Seaport with zero transfers via the SL4/SL5 bus-rapid corridor.
