Central Square
Central Square is the Cambridge that did not get sanded down. Live music at The Middle East and Sonia, a pint at Brick and Mortar, late tacos at Felipe's between sets. Mass Ave does the heavy lifting: the Red Line at Central runs to Harvard one stop north and Kendall one stop east, so dates can start scrappy and end wherever. Toscanini's for ice cream is the canonical second-date move. Tradeoff: sidewalks get rough after midnight near the shelter, and parking is theoretical. Worth it for anyone who treats a date as a night out, not a venue review.
