North End
Hanover Street is the cliche, and the cliche is correct: Mike's vs. Modern is still the post-dinner debate, and the line outside Giacomo's tells you what you're signing up for, cash, no reservations, elbows. The North End is dinner-date territory in the most literal sense, narrow streets, garlic in the air off Salem, Paul Revere's house as a walking detour. The honest tradeoff is that it skews tourist-heavy from May through October, and locals quietly migrate to Carmelina's or the bar at Bricco. Bring someone who hasn't done it yet, or someone who has and still wants the cannoli argument.
