Butchertown wears its name honestly. The old stockyards and the JBS Swift plant still scent the air on the wrong wind, which locals treat as character and outsiders treat as a dealbreaker. What you get in exchange: cobbled side streets, shotgun cottages, Copper and Kings distillery tours, Hermitage Farm proximity, and some of the better date-night kitchens east of downtown. Lou City FC at Lynn Family Stadium gives you a built-in second act. The tradeoff is honest. The reward is a neighborhood that still feels like a working secret rather than a polished one, which is the rarer Louisville thing.
