Boulder City is the Vegas-adjacent town that voted itself out of the Vegas script: no gaming, low-rise, built in the 1930s to house Hoover Dam workers and still wearing the uniform. Main streets do antique shops, a couple of historic hotels, and coffee that takes its time. Dates here are daylight affairs: kayaking Black Canyon, walking the dam, lunch on a shaded patio, then back to the city before the sun gives up. The tradeoff is honest: thinner nightlife, almost no scene, and a thirty-minute drive each way. What you get in return is quiet, scale, and an actual horizon.
