Oswego
Oswego is a Lake Ontario port town that takes its weather, its fishing, and its SUNY campus seriously, in roughly that order. The lake-effect snow is biblical, the salmon run is genuinely world-class, and the student population swings the demographic young from September to May. Date pool splits cleanly: SUNY Oswego undergrads in the west-side bars, Nine Mile and Constellation power-plant workers in the east-side diners, and a townie core that has weathered both since the river was first dredged. Harborfest in July, Fort Ontario history, a working lighthouse, and the kind of sunsets that justify the commute from Syracuse.
