The foothill stretch east of the U, where grad students, hospital staff, and tenured faculty all bid against each other for the same midcentury ranch houses. Views of the Salt Lake Valley come standard; functioning HVAC does not. Trails start where the pavement ends, which is roughly your back fence. Closer to Research Park than to anything resembling nightlife, which residents will tell you is the entire point. Expect a lot of Subarus, a lot of dogs, and a lot of conversations that begin with which lab someone runs. Bring a headlamp for evening walks.
