Queens is the most linguistically diverse place on the planet, and that geography shapes dating here. Best for a second or third date when the view is the point, not the conversation.
Astoria

Take the N or W to Broadway or 30th Avenue and walk: Taverna Kyclades for grilled octopus, Mombar for Egyptian, Sek'end Sun for the cocktail crowd, Bohemian Hall and Beer Garden when the weather cooperates. The old Greek-Italian bones now carry Bangladeshi, Brazilian, North African, and Colombian layers, often on the same block. Rents climbed but stayed under LIC's. Steinway Street after dark is a legitimate hookah-and-shisha scene. The tradeoff: the N/W is slower than the 7, and parking is a real conversation. Best for a first date that wants to feel like a city.
Flushing

Quiet it is not, and the public realm wears its workload visibly on a Saturday afternoon. Bring an appetite and a tolerance for crowds, and Flushing pays you back.
Forest Hills

Forest Hills Gardens gives you Tudor revival on private streets, Austin Street gives you a walkable spine of restaurants and bars, and the express stops on the E and F give you Midtown in twenty minutes. The Jewish community here is deep-rooted and visible, and the neighborhood reads as established rather than striving. The tradeoff is the price of all that: rents trend higher than the borough average and the Gardens itself is genteel to the point of hushed. If you want suburban calm without leaving the subway map, this is the address.
Jackson Heights

Roosevelt Avenue carries the densest Latin-American and South Asian dating scene in the five boroughs, and the 7 train delivers it without ceremony. Dress codes are loose, Spanish helps, and the best evenings end on a plastic stool. Come for range, stay because nobody is auditioning for your benefit.
