Harlem
Harlem carries more cultural weight per block than anywhere else uptown, and it knows it. The Apollo, Sylvia's, the brownstones along Strivers' Row, the jazz that still spills out of Minton's adjacent rooms. You move here for the architecture, the food, and a sense of place that Midtown forgot how to make. The tradeoffs are real. Gentrification is the conversation that never ends, and the rent gap between 125th and Frederick Douglass tells the story without you asking. Trains to Midtown are quick on the A and D, slower on the 2 and 3. Sundays still belong to the churches.
