Waterford sits where Modesto's sprawl finally gives up and the almond orchards take over, a farming town on the Tuolumne River that mostly minds its own business. The dating pool is shallow by design: roughly 9,000 people, a handful of bars, and the kind of grocery-store run-ins that double as social events. Dating here means driving back into Modesto, or accepting that your candidate set is mostly people you already went to high school with. The upside is honesty. Nobody is pretending Waterford is a scene, which spares everyone the performance and gets straight to whether you actually like each other.
