Mesquite

Mesquite sits a quick drive south of Las Cruces on the old highway, pecan groves on one side and chile fields on the other. It is unincorporated, which in practice means a post office, a couple of churches, and neighbors who notice a new truck in the driveway. Date prospects are functionally Las Cruces prospects, with the small-town tax of everyone knowing your business by Sunday. The upside is honest: cheap rent, dark skies, and a short run to NMSU for anyone wanting livelier company. Bring your own plans, or borrow Cruces's.
