Chaparral straddles the Otero and Dona Ana county line, close enough to El Paso to share its traffic and Fort Bliss's rhythms, far enough to feel like neither. It is unincorporated, sprawling, and largely residential, which is polite shorthand for limited nightlife and a heavy reliance on driving. The dating pool skews young, military-adjacent, and transient, with deployments and PCS orders quietly setting the calendar. Honest tradeoff: cheap housing and big skies, paid for in commute time to Las Cruces or El Paso whenever you want a proper restaurant or a second date that lasts.
