Florence is what Eugene singles call a weekend, not a dating market. The Old Town strip along the Siuslaw is genuinely charming - working harbor, decent restaurants, dunes a short drive south - but the year-round population is small, skews retired, and tilts toward couples already settled in their coastal lives. That said, summer changes the math: ATV crowds at the dunes, tourists in Old Town, and a steady trickle of Portland weekenders mean the off-season Florence and the August Florence are essentially two different towns. Go for the trip. Lower expectations about meeting anyone who will still be there Tuesday.
