Folly is the city's release valve: a barrier-island town where Charleston bankers, College of Charleston students, and a stubborn cohort of surfers all end up at the same bar by 9pm. Center Street runs maybe four walkable blocks of bars, taco joints, and beach-rental signage; the Washout still draws the surf crowd; the pier got rebuilt and reopened. Vibe trends barefoot, sunburned, and a little salt-crusted. For dating it skews casual by design, sunset beers at the Tides, oyster happy hours, post-surf food trucks. Not where you go to impress; where you go when you have stopped trying to.
