Arden is where you live when the school district matters more than the brewery count, and where first dates default to the Long Shoals Road corridor because that is what is there. The Blue Ridge Parkway access is the genuine flex - twenty minutes to an overlook that makes any conversation sound more profound than it is. Otherwise expect chain restaurants, a respectable Ingles, and the quiet sense that everyone here used to live in West Asheville before the rent did what rent does. Pleasant, practical, slightly apologetic about itself.
