Menlo Park
Menlo Park sits on the Westside, the flat stretch between Sentinel Peak and the Santa Cruz, and it remembers when Tucson was a smaller town. Bungalows from the 1920s and 30s still line the streets, some lovingly kept, others patiently waiting. The Mercado San Agustin anchors the eastern edge with horchata, La Estrella tacos, and a streetcar that actually runs to downtown and the U of A. Dating here means walking to dinner without parking lots involved, which in Tucson is rarer than it should be. The tradeoff: older housing stock, tight lots, and rents that reflect the discovery.
