Downtown
Downtown Syracuse is the reviving core around Armory Square, where the city's nightlife actually clusters. Restored brick warehouses house craft bars, restaurants, and the loft conversions that pulled twenty-somethings back from the suburbs. The walkable grid between Walton and Franklin Streets is where dates start and end, anchored by the Landmark Theatre and a clutch of breweries. The tradeoff is honest: it empties hard after the bars close on weeknights, and the residential supply is thin enough that rents punch above what the local salary base would suggest. For a first date, though, nowhere in the metro reads more clearly as a city.
