Mt Angel is the Bavarian cosplay corner of the Willamette, and Oktoberfest week is the only time the dating math works in your favor: outsiders pour in, lederhosen lowers everyone's defenses, and the Glockenspiel does the small talk for you. The other fifty-one weeks are quieter than quiet. Plan around the Hauptstrasse, the Mount Angel Abbey overlook for an unbothered second date, and a stein at one of the festhallen. Locals are Catholic, German-stock, and politely curious about strangers. Bring a designated driver from Salem; Mt Angel is charming, not Uber-rich.
