Banning

Banning is the older, scrappier sibling of Beaumont, separated by a few miles of freeway and a noticeable shift in median income. The downtown along Ramsey Street has the bones of a 1950s pass-stop town that never quite got its renaissance, though the Morongo casino glow lights up the eastern sky and pulls a certain crowd. Dating here means accepting that most plans involve driving, whether to Cabazon outlets, the casino buffet, or somewhere with cell service in the canyon. The pool runs older and more rooted than Beaumont transplant set. Honest tradeoff: affordability and quiet, against a thin local scene.
