Sparks gets called Reno's sister city, which undersells it. The Nugget still anchors Victorian Square, Scheels still draws crowds to Legends, and the marina at Sparks Lake means you can paddleboard before brunch without leaving the 89431. Downtown has the revived warehouses and the third-wave coffee, but rents climbed faster than the wage data suggested they would. The tradeoff is real: you get a walkable core, a working-class memory, and easier parking than Midtown Reno, in exchange for summer heat that lingers later into October than newcomers expect. Sparks dates like the older sibling who got their act together first.
