Knightdale
Knightdale is what happens when a sleepy crossroads gets the 540 interchange it always wanted. Downtown Knightdale Station Park anchors a walkable core that did not exist a decade ago, and the new mixed-use builds along Widewaters keep filling. Commuters get downtown Raleigh in 15 minutes without tolls, which is the entire pitch. Mingo Creek Trail connects to the Neuse River Greenway, giving runners a serious east-side network. Restaurants remain thin outside chains, though Sweetwater Stillhouse and a handful of taprooms are trying. Schools are Wake County. Cheaper than Wake Forest, less polished than Cary, growing faster than both.
