The food carts have hardened into brick-and-mortar, and the brick-and-mortar has hardened into reservations. The creative class is younger, queerer, and more transplant-heavy than the Pearl, which is the appeal. Tradeoffs: western blocks read polished, eastern blocks read transitional, and the gap is a fifteen-minute walk. Rent has caught up with the mythology. The murals have not.
