Allegheny West is twelve square blocks of preserved Victorian mansions on the North Side, hemmed in by Ohio River industry and the Mexican War Streets. The housing stock is the draw, not the dating pool: think architectural pilgrimage, not Friday night plans. Walk-up bars and Allegheny Commons sit nearby, but most singles activity bleeds into the Northside proper or across the river to downtown. The tradeoff is honest. You get cornices, carriage houses, and one of the most intact Gilded Age streetscapes in the city, paid for in a near-total absence of scene. Bring a partner who appreciates cornices and plans dinner elsewhere.
