Idalou sits 14 miles northeast of Lubbock on US-62, a cotton-and-grain stop of roughly 2,200 that has resisted absorption into the metro proper. Housing skews to ranch-style on big lots, with the occasional new build by someone tired of Lubbock traffic and HOA letters. Dating-wise, the pool is shallow and you will know your match's cousins within a week. The tradeoff is real square footage, dark skies, and a commute that runs against the morning flow into town.
