Saturday mornings at Cafe Des Amis used to mean zydeco breakfast, and the ghost of that scene still flavors how locals talk about the place. Downtown is small, walkable, antique-shop dense, with the Bayou Teche running through like it has somewhere better to be. Mulate's pulls the tour buses, but the better tip is a back booth at a boudin counter no one outside St Martin Parish has heard of. Twenty minutes from Lafayette, half a world away in pace.
