Alcoa
Alcoa is the company town the aluminum smelter built, now better known as the place McGhee Tyson Airport actually sits. The street grid is generous, Springbrook Park is genuinely pretty, and the new Pellissippi Place developments have dragged in chain restaurants and apartment complexes aimed at airport workers and Maryville commuters. Tradeoffs: there is no real downtown to stroll, nightlife means a Top Golf and a few sports bars, and the dating pool tilts heavily toward shift workers and aviation staff on inconvenient schedules. Useful as a logistically convenient meeting point between Knoxville and Maryville. Not a destination in itself.
