Kapolei is Oahu's official Plan B, a master-planned grid of roundabouts, Target parking lots, and new-build townhomes selling the radical proposition that you can live on this island without a 90-minute commute. The dating demographic is young families, second-shift hospitality workers, and Ko Olina-adjacent transplants who priced out of town. The honest tradeoff: the leeward side is hot, flat, and architecturally indifferent, and a Friday night out usually means Ka Makana Alii or driving the H-1 east anyway. But the lagoons are real, the rent is comparatively merciful, and nobody has to explain where they parked.
