Walker is the northwest exit ramp that quietly became a city. Bordered by Standale strip plazas, Mill Creek, and the I-96 corridor, it reads as parkland with parking lots attached. Millennium Park sprawls across reclaimed gravel pits, Walker Ice and Fitness handles the youth hockey overflow, and Standale's restaurant row gives the area a downtown without the parking meters. The tradeoff is candid: dating here means driving, and most evenings end on the GR side of the river. But the housing is newer, the commute is shorter than Rockford's, and nobody pretends Alpine Avenue is charming. It is not. It is convenient, which counts for more than it should.
