Socorro
Far east of El Paso proper, Socorro is Mission Valley flatland built around one of the oldest continuously occupied mission churches in the country, founded 1680 by refugees from the Pueblo Revolt. The neighborhood reads suburban now, new-build stucco subdivisions and strip retail along Horizon, but the historic core still holds the mission, the Casa Ortiz, and a stubborn agricultural identity. Tradeoffs: it is a real commute to anything central, the school district underperforms the El Paso average, and date options outside chain restaurants are thin. Upside is house-for-the-money math and genuine Mission Trail access on weekends.
