Pittsboro
Pittsboro is the Chatham County seat south of Chapel Hill, a courthouse-square town that picked up a second life when Chatham Park started reshaping its edges. The historic core still works: independent restaurants, the Friday night drum circle at City Tap, antique stores that have not yet been priced out. Honest tradeoffs: the development pressure is enormous, traffic on 15-501 is the limiting factor on weeknight dates from Durham, and the dining scene thins quickly after nine. Best as a Saturday afternoon move with low expectations and a willingness to wander. Charming, contested, halfway through becoming something else.
