Eldridge is the suburb you choose when the Quad Cities feel like too much city and not enough cul-de-sac. North Scott County, good schools, a Hy-Vee that functions as the actual town square, and dating geography that mostly routes back to Davenport or Bettendorf for anything past coffee. The upside is that everyone roughly knows everyone, which is also, unavoidably, the downside. First dates here tend to be Sunday-morning farmers market or the bike trail; second dates require a car and a plan. Honest about its size, unbothered by it, and quietly comfortable being the quiet option.
