Chelsea

Chelsea is the Jeff Daniels move: a Washtenaw mill town that hosts an actual regional theater (the Purple Rose) and pretends that isn't a flex. Date nights revolve around a show, a drink at the Common Grill, and the long drive back to Ann Arbor in companionable silence. The tradeoff is honest: you trade walkability and density for a downtown that empties by ten and a dating pool measured in dozens, not thousands. Works if you already like each other. Punishing if you are still auditioning. Treat Chelsea as a destination, not a scene, and it earns its keep handsomely.
