Wasilla

Wasilla sprawls north of Anchorage along the Parks Highway, the unofficial capital of the Mat-Su Valley and the punchline of more national jokes than its residents care to count. The dating scene reflects the geography: big trucks, longer commutes, Walmart-and-Carrs first dates, and a churn of military, trades, and oilfield workers who keep odd schedules. It runs more conservative and more married-young than Anchorage proper, with church socials doing real matchmaking work. Summers open up Lake Lucille and the Knik River for actual outdoor courtship; winters narrow it back down to hockey rinks, snowmachines, and whoever's hosting.
