Pampa
Pampa sits on the Panhandle plains an hour northeast of Amarillo, the Gray County seat with about 17,000 residents and a downtown that remembers oil money. Woody Guthrie spent his formative years here in the 1930s, watching the Dust Bowl rewrite the High Plains, and the town has built a small museum around the fact. The economy still leans on natural gas, agriculture, and the Celanese plant out east. Winters bite, summers bake, and the wind never quite stops. For singles, Pampa is small enough that everyone knows your business by Tuesday, which is either a feature or a dealbreaker.
